Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has changed the way they handle DOT violations during a compliance review. In the past, fines were scaled according to previous visits where fines were issued. Under the new rules, during an inspection a DOT officer finding any hazardous material violation can fine up to $105,000.00 per violation!
